What you will learn

  • How to create an opportunity
  • How to move opportunities between stages
  • How to add notes and set a value
  • How to filter and find stuck deals

Before you start

  • Have a pipeline created first
  • Have at least one contact added

Step-by-step

  1. 1

    Create an opportunity

Open a contact and click Create Opportunity. Pick the pipeline and the starting stage. Add an estimated value if you know it. The opportunity now appears as a card on your pipeline board.

  2. 2

    Move opportunities between stages

On the board, drag a card to the next stage. You can also open the opportunity and change the stage from a dropdown. Moving a stage can trigger a workflow automatically, like sending a follow-up message.

  3. 3

Add notes and set a value

Open an opportunity and add a note after every conversation. Set or update the value based on what the lead is likely to pay. Notes keep your team in sync and the value feeds your pipeline reporting.

Add a note after every call, even if it is one line. Future you will thank present you.

  4. 4

    Find stuck deals

Use filters on the board to find opportunities that have been in a stage too long, or that have no activity for a week. These are your stuck deals. Reach out to them first.

Result

You can create, move and track opportunities, add notes and values, and find the deals that need attention. Your pipeline now reflects what is really happening.

Troubleshooting

I cannot see my opportunity on the board

Check the pipeline selector at the top of the board. Opportunities only show on the pipeline they belong to.

Best practices

  • Update opportunity value as you learn more about the deal
  • Add a note after every contact attempt
  • Review stuck deals weekly

Frequently asked questions

Can a contact have more than one opportunity?

Yes. A contact can have opportunities in different pipelines, for example a sales deal and a separate onboarding project.
